A Day At The Races

For Veterans Day I took the Firefly up to Virginia International Raceway to participate in their Holiday Laps.

The way it works is you donate $25 cash or a toy worth $25 and you get a session on the track consisting of 20-25 minutes of laps behind the pace car.

It's a fun way to stretch the car out without worrying about oncoming traffic or Johnny Law, and we had a ball.
More photos can be found here.

UPDATE: Edited to add the second session picture and the video.

were you thinking of the Series when you named her?

I must admit that I was. It's the way she lights up when you tweak her throttle.

I was wondering. :) I call the family s-10 Blazer, The Beast. Although on REALLY bad days my name for her aren't NEARLY that complimentary.

The polite name for the wife's (now the daughter's) car was That Damn Pontiac (TDP).
I would gladly pay money to watch someone feed it into a shredder and make blue confetti out of it. But, it was Mom's car, so I'm not allowed to get rid of it.
It's the daughter's car now, but guess who is going to pay for the crank and bearings it needs...
I've always hated that car.

How far did it stretch out?

I got her up to 120 on the back stretch on the second lap as I was catching back up. The car had more in her but that's all I needed.
She is much more capable than her driver, and I have no problems admitting that.
Thanks for dropping by Q!

SWEET!!! I'd LOVE to do that!!!

I just got a '07 Pony Pack, basically a GT but with a 210 HP/240 ft.lb of twist 4.0 V-6 in her.

'Prolly couldn't keep up wit youse GT and COBRA guys, but I bet it'd be a blast to try.

The Pony Pack makes for a pretty sweet handling car.
