USS Constitution.
Launched this day in 1797 she was one of six frigates built for the newly reconstituted US Navy. She is still on active duty today and is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat (only the HMS Victory is older, but she is permanently drydocked).

And she's still one fine looking lady! Love those old sailing ships!
"I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking."
A fine looking lady indeed. 216 years old and she doesn't look a day over 200.
Really? Man, I wouldn't have put her past 214 years! She's really aged gracefully!
Is it any wonder that, as much as I really don't enjoy poetry, "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is one of my all-time favs? Even better than "The Ballad of Casey Jones".
Indeed!
Fair Winds and Following Seas, M'Lady!
