As is my wont, now that I actually own a Sig P220 I'm doing a bit of research on it. So why would I do my research afterwards instead of before? That's one of life's little mysteries, isn't it. At any rate, I've lost track of the number of "ur gun sux get m&p with apex trigger" comments.
My question has to do with the latter part of that comment...the part about "with apex trigger".
I don't own an M&P, and in fact I haven't ever shot one, but from everything I've heard they are good guns. I just don't see the point of buying one that I have to modify right out of the box to make it acceptable. What's so great about a gun you have to immediately modify in order to make it worth a damn?
The same question applies to Ruger 10/22 fans, by the way.
Getting There

A friend of mine has gone the M&P Apex route.
He feels that the combination is better than other modern 9mm's for a competitive final price.
I have to admit he's within a nice dinner of the price he'd have paid for a Gen 4 G17 and he prefers the grips on the S&W.
I have no doubt it's a good combination, I'm just amused by all the fanbois of one kind or another who crow about their modified firearm being superior to another brand fresh from the box.
duh...but if it was so good, why did you have to modify it?
It's been a "can't get this from that" attitude I've encountered.
M&P + Apex is what they want.
Can't get the result any other way.
As someone who knows you can't spell Barbie without AR, I am in no position to tell someone they cannot modify their guns...
I guess it would be a boring world if everyone liked the same things.
I've no experience with the M&P but I think of my 10/22 kinda like an 80% lower being used as a not quite so tactical barbe.
To each his own, the 10/22 surely does have an extensive aftermarket. Thanks for dropping by TommyG.
If you ever get tired of the 220, let me know. I've been wanting one but finding them at a decent price is a chore. I like the plain DA/SA with no rail. Just a sturdy duty gun. Of course the 250's in 45 are nice too, but then there is that rail thing again.
I'm really looking forward to putting her through her paces next time I get some range time. The only complaint I have so far is no one carries holsters for it locally, I have to go to the interwebs to find them.
Thanks for dropping by Robert!
What do I know, I bought the Glock... my buddy Marv got the M&P and the Apex and replaced the sights with Tru-Glo...
Maybe it's the removable panels that make you start tinkering and never stop?
LOL, certainly seems to work that way with the M1911...
