Daylight Savings Time

The clocks went back 1 hour at 2:00 AM this morning. The first 2:00 AM that is.

Someone at AoSHQ said something about DST and time zones, which made me think of this question.

Why were time zones created?

Anyone know?

Shit.

I was wondering why my cell phone didn't match the nightstand clock this morning...

So the trains would run on time!

MSgt B, I was up so I set my clock at 2/1 AM this morning. There are only three clocks in my house that don't auto-set, the alarm clock is one of them.

Angus, you are the big winner, it was indeed for train schedules so that they wouldn't do embarrassing things...like run into each other.

Thanks for dropping by!

What McT said. I speak from personal experience saying that crossing multiple time zones while having to track said zones and make changes to (secret redacted stuff) is a royal pain. Let's abolish all this zone nonsense. Zulu, er, I mean UTC, should rule the world's clocks, dammit.

5 AM GMT would come around awfully early here...
