Well Why Not

I went to go somewhere in the Jeep today, and when I turned the key the little blinky dash lights came on but the starter didn't. Apparently the linkage between the lock cylinder and the electrical switch, called the actuator, is prone to failure and mine did.

I went online to do some pricing and holy smokes. Amazon has what I need for about seventeen bucks shipped. Auto Zone had the same part for about 40. Advance wants 66 bucks for the same part.

It will be here Thursday. Until then I'll drive the Baja. I need to get my money's worth out of that transmission anyway. It's just a shame, the weather will be nice enough for the next couple of days that I could have rode topless, but I guess I can just open the sunroof instead.

Nice To Be Home Again

Eleven states and both families have been visited in the past ten days. Gifts and greetings have been exchanged and a good time was had by all.

We got back home today in the rain to find the roof still leaks in the kitchen and bathroom. As I type this missive I am listening to pieces falling off the kitchen ceiling.

I guess for the new year I'm going to break down and put a new roof on the Refuge...and one on the Mustang as well, for the same reason.

Be it ever so waterlogged, there's no place like home...

On The Mend

Weak and dizzy like I've been on a 3 day bender but it looks like I'm getting better.

Just don't ask how many attempts it took to type these two sentences.

Ugg

I've been cleaning house quite a bit lately and stirring up a lot of dust.

Wednesday when the weather was nice I changed out the central air filters, stirring up even more dust.

Wednesday night I had a sore throat. It only got worse from there.

All weekend I've been unwell, something that is not normal for me.

I don't like it a bit.

Ice Ice Baby

Freezing rain today, it started at noon yesterday and is forecast to continue on through the day with temperatures only climbing to the high 30's. I get to drive to work in it, oh joy.

The power just went out about fifteen minutes ago, no doubt due to ice on the lines. I have a lantern for light and the phone has internet and communication, not to mention Kindle to keep me amused.

Shame it can't do laundry.

PS. I am thoroughly sick of winter now.

UPDATE: I decided round about six thirty that I wanted some coffee. However, with the power out the stove doesn't work. No problems, I have a camp stove and a camp stove coffeepot! So I go out to the shed and pull it out of the loft...and then realize without electricity the water pump doesn't work, either...

So off I go to get some water, and perhaps some other needful things, and Krispy Kreme has coffee and donuts...and when I got back the power was back on and so the collapse of civilization as we know it has been put on temporary hiatus.

Oh well, I needed some emergency water stores anyway, and the ice is very pretty when it's not knocking out your power.

Mixed Bag

Wintery mix forecast for today and tomorrow.

I have to work tonight.

I have a cold.

I'm tired of winter.

But on the plus side of the ledger, I got these in today.
